DSWD AWARD P2M SEED CAPITAL TO 24 SEA-K ASSOCIATIONS

LUCENA CITY, Quezon---The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 4A distributed recently P2,029,000 worth of seed capital assistance to 24 Self-Employment Assistance-Kaunlaran (SEA-K) assocations in three Quezon towns.
In San Francisco, the eight SEA-K associations that received capital assistance were: Masigasig, P200,000; Nagkakaisa, P190,000; 1st bamboo SEA-K, P108,000; Cawayan 1, P103,000; Pagkakaisa, P214,000; Balikatan, P180,000; Masagana, P186,000; and Yaganak, P132,000.

Meanwhile, the three SEA-K associations in San Narciso received seed capitals in the amount of:Kanyugan, P208,000; Malinaw, P135,000; and Bangkuro, P128,000 which totals P471,000.

Moreover, Buenavista’s three SEA-K associations granted with a total of P245,000 seed capital assistance were: Villa Aurora, P68,000; Esperanza, P91,000; and Rosal, P86,000 for a total of P245,000.

According to Randy Hernandez, project development officer of DSWD-4A Lucena City extension office, the livelihood loan assistance payable within one year without interest will be used by the beneficiaries in the different livelihood projects such as food vending, fishing, hog-raising, sari-sari store, and vegetable farming.

In return, the beneficiaries were thankful to the national government for the seed capital assistance, saying it will help them a lot in putting up a small business to support their families.

Meanwhile, Marvin Tiama, DSWD 4A Lucena city extension office project development officer said, another seven SEA-K associations in Buenavista are scheduled to receive the total amount of P949,000 capital assistance after the members attended the required briefing on business and the rules and regulations under the SEA-K program.

At present, the documents are now being processed for seven SEA-K associations namely: Hilltop, Vista, Sandigan, B-Sur, Ilaya, San Vicente, and Narra, said Tiama.

DSWD’s SEA-K program aims to assist impoverished families through provision of financial assistance that could be used in various livelihood activities. (Arlene P. Mariposque)
