MOA-SIGNING BETWEEN WALTERMART & CALAMBA CITY WORKERS COOPERATIVE

The partnership between Waltermart and the Calamba City Workers Cooperative was formally sealed with the MOA signing ceremony held on October 21, 2011 at Hap Chan Restaurant in the newly opened Waltermart Makiling Branch. No less than the AVP for Business Development of the Benison Group of Companies, Mr. Jojo de Guzman graced the occasion in behalf of the Waltermart management.
This joint venture highlights the establishment of transport terminals in Waltermart Malls situated in Calamba City, which will be managed by the cooperative. Representatives from different Non-Government Organizations and Local Government Units also attended the event and signify their allegiance with the CCWCs mission of promoting people-empowerment by providing business opportunities to Calambeños.
These organizations include the Calamba Rice Growers Multipurpose Cooperative headed by Mr. Joselito Eugenio, the Kalayaan Multipurpose Cooperative (KMPC) headed by Mr. Boy Perea together with Mr. Oscar Olimpiada, Mr. Jimmy Hevaña and Mr. Roberto Jobog, the CrossRoads transport group headed by Mr. Silver Sanchez, the CUFAMCO represented by Ms. Delia Dejan, and the Calamba City Cooperative Development Council represented by Ms. Liza Gonzales.
In conclusion, each partner organization agrees to uphold the main cause of the cooperative which is the promotion and strengthening the local enterprises. Also, the Waltermart management expresses its commitment to the Calamba community by making the local producers its major suppliers of vegetables for their supermarket.
