3 Dead, 1 Hurt in San Pablo City Shooting Rampage

CAMP PACIANO RIZAL, Laguna—A man shot two persons dead and injured another before shooting himself in San Pablo City, Laguna Wednesday evening, the police said on Thursday. Brothers John, 23, and Johanes, 17, Detaunan died instantly, while their cousin, Jesus Sumadsad, 24, remained in critical condition in a hospital, said city police chief Supt. Ferdinand de Castro in a phone interview.
Police said following the rampage, witnesses saw the suspect, Ariel Almare, around 30-35 years old, walked about 30 meters from the crime scene and shot himself in the head. Police learned that the suspect and Sumadsad were fighting over a married woman, as they were also heard arguing at the woman's home in Barangay San Antonio 1 Wednesday evening. The police withheld the woman's name due to the sensitivity of the situation.
At around 11 pm, Sumadsad and the two other victims went to a computer shop also in the village while the suspect left. Almare went back armed with a .38 caliber pistol and began shooting down his victims.John died of gunshot wounds in the back and neck, while Johanes in his neck.
