CALAMBA CITY, Laguna, Aug. 4 ---The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Calabarzon conducted recently a five-day skills enhancement activity for implementers and local partners in the implementation of Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Service (KALAHI-CIDSS). The activity dubbed as “Area Coordinating and Municipal Coordinating Teams (ACT & MCT) Skills Enhancement Training” was held in Las Piñas City and attended by 70 participants involved in the program implementation in the municipalities.

The training aims to develop and enhance the competencies of the ACTs and MCTs in the implementation along the Community Empowerment Activity Cycle (CEAC) processes of KALAHI-CIDSS. It also enhances the participatory situational analysis being used under the program. It seeks to integrated gender analysis, climate change adaptation, and peace building as considerations in formulating project proposals that would respond to the priority needs of the communities. Among the municipalities represented in the training are Macalelon, Catanauan, Perez and Mulanay all in Quezon Province. These municipalities are all current implementation areas of the KALAHI-CIDSS. “What is good in this training is we are able to discuss further the problems we encountered during the first cycle of KALAHI-CIDSS and able to formulate plans, solutions to be able to avoid it in the second cycle,” said Arlene Rabina, area coordinator of municipality of Macalelon, Quezon.
