Industriya ng Kawayan, Palalakasin sa Laguna

  • Nais ng Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) na palakasin ang industriya ng kawayan at binabalak nilang umpisahan ito sa Lalawigan ng Laguna.
  • Nitong Mayo 23, 2011, inumpisahan sa Laguna ang pagpapatupad ng Bamboo Industry Development Project. Nakasaad dito ang paggamit ng 25% ng mga kagamitan at muebles sa mga pampublikong paaralan ay gawa sa kawayan.
  • Inaasahan din ang unti-unting paggamit ng mga lokal na pamahalaan ng mga materyales na gawa sa kawayan.

Ito ay bilang tugon sa Executive Order No. 879 o ang Creation of the Philippine Bamboo Industry Council.

Isang Memorandum of Agreement ang pinirmahan ng mga Kalihim ng DTI, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Agriculture, Department of Education, Department of Science and Technology, at Department of Labor and Environment.

Kasama rin nila bilang miyembro ng Executive Committee na pinamumunuan ng DTI Undersecretary for Regional Operations and Development Group at kasama ang mga miyembro mula sa League of Municipalities, at tig-dalawang representante mula sa NGO at Private Industry.

Ginawa ang pirmahan ng MOA sa Cultural Center of Laguna. /Matt Palentinos
