The Philippine Red Cross being the foremost humanitarian organization in the country continues to fulfill its mission to alleviate human suffering. The Laguna Red Cross Chapter will formally turn over on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 the rehabilitation projects extended to the typhoon victims of Ondoy, Pepeng, and Santi from the province of Laguna. Chairman and CEO of the Philippine Red Cross Hon. Richard J. Gordon, Country Representative to the Philippines of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Society Mr. Selvaratnam Sinnadurai will lead the turn over ceremony to be held at the covered court of the Municipality of Lumban. One thousand three hundred nine (1,309) shelter beneficiary from sixteen (16) municipalities are the recipient of the project.
Meanwhile, the Department of Education in the province is also one of the rehabilitation project beneficiaries of the Red Cross. Twenty nine (29) newly constructed latrines with water facilitites project were given to eleven (11) public schools in the province.
