The term bayanihan originated from a common Filipino tradition where barrio folks volunteer to help a family to move to a new place by literally carrying the house to its new location. In today’s society, bayanihan has also been adopted as a term to refer to a local civil effort to resolve national issues (www.wikipedia.org). The context of the crusade “BAYANIHAN CALAMBEÑO” lies on this concept. It is a venue where the locals, through various NGOs, can resolve problems and issues affecting the lives of the Calambeños, especially the masses. This crusade was launched during the MOA signing of the NGOs in Calamba earlier this month.

During the launching, the NGOs have already cited problems that are needed to be addressed by the local government, such as:
The NGOs and Cooperatives who attended the launching have expressed their support to BAYANIHAN CALAMBEÑO. And have pledge their allegiance to the cause of working for the upliftment of the lives of the people of Calamba through this collaborative effort.
