President Benigno S. Aquino III has directed the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) to lead the organization and implementation of the 113th Philippine Independence Day Celebration on June 12, 2011.By virtue of Administrative Order No. 11 signed on April 12, 2011 by Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa, Jr., the Palace announced that “the amount of P10 million is hereby set aside to defray the expenses for the activities commemorating the 113th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence chargeable against the NHCP budget for Fiscal Year 2011.
Any deficiency shall be charged against the regular budget of the participating agencies,” said the AO.
The Philippines yearly celebrates Philippine Independence Day to bring to the awareness of the Filipino people that freedom is a most precious right.The celebration will be held simultaneously nationwide with Filipino communities worldwide. The holiday is being celebrated every year to commemorate the Declaration of Independence on June 12, 1898 by General Emilio Aguinaldo and Filipino revolutionary forces from the Spanish colonization. // Arlene P.
